There is an old saying that rosemary is for remembrance, and students in ancient Greece reportedly wore sprigs in their hair while studying. Distilled from the flowering tops and leaves of Rosmarinus officinalis, this oil has a fresh, herbal, camphor-like aroma that feels clear and awake.

It is the oil to diffuse on study nights and busy workdays, and a drop in the kitchen brings real depth to roast lamb, potatoes, focaccia and soups.

    Aroma: Camphoraceous, herbaceous.

What the research says: In a study of 144 healthy adults, Moss et al. (2003) found that people working in a room scented with rosemary oil performed significantly better on overall quality of memory than those in an unscented room, and felt more alert. Read the study.
